What is Royal College of Tanzania (RCT)?
Royal College of Tanzania formely known as Royal College of Journalism (RCJ) is a tertiary training school established by indigenous Tanzanians with an objective of increasing the training opportunities to the Tanzania Youth Completing their secondary school education willing to undergo further training in social studies.

Where is it based?
RCT is located in he commercial city of D;Salaam, along Morogoro road, within the Friendship Textile Company buildings, close to Urafiki Social Hall with an access road leading to Shekilango road, a walking distance from Ubungo Central Bus Terminal.

Who owns the college?
The college is owned by the Tanzania Volunteers For Development Trust, a non profit making and non governmental charitable organization, the main objective of which is to promote the voluntarism initiatives in Tanzania. The college was established as Youth Volunteer Training Unit.

When was it Established
The college was established on 28 march 2001 and officially started her training programmes on 1st June 2001 with a team of sixty (60) students  learning Journalism and Broadcasting Certificate Course.

Which course do you offer?
RCT currently offers a range of Mass Communication courses such as Journalism (printing and electronic), radio Broadcasting, Television Presentation, radio Production, TV Production, Film Production, Public Relations and Advertising, video Shooting and Editing etc.

How Do you Accommodate your students?
RCT owns no hostels at the moment. But is has some agreements and relationships with na number of Hostel operators who provide accommodation to our students. Most of these hostels are within a walking distance from the college, situated around Mabibo, Ubungo, sinza, Mwenge, Kijitonyama, to mention just a few are:-

  1. Students Care Hostel – Sinza
  2. Ubungo Maziwa Hostel – Ubungo
  3. Neema Hostel – Mabibo

Is RCT a Recognized College?
Yes RCT was registered by the National Council For Technical Education (NACTE) since 2003 and recently in December 2007 the college got her Full registration as a tertiary school the stage which leads to the college accreditation.

How many students have graduated from your school?

Since its establishment in 2001, RCT has produced at total of 1257 comprising, 304 Basic Certificate, 647 Advanced Certificate and 306 Diploma students as Journalists. Broadcasters and Public Relation Officers in various media courses working in Tanzania and some of them undergoing further training in several universities.

What are your future plans?

RCT long term plan is to become one of the modern Universities in Tanzania offering a wide range of training programmes at both Higher Diploma and Degree level.

The college is to shift    to her own new campus based at Tuangoma, Temeke Municipality where the construction of new buildings is going on.

What is your Management Organisations?

RCT is under the mandate of the TAVODET Board of Trustees represented by the Centre Director. While the college policy mattes are supervised by the college Advisory Board represented by the College Principal and the daily activities of the college are under the Management Team Supervised by the Principal.

What Learning facilities do you offer?

RCT offers an up to date well equipped teaching laboratories (Radio and TV Studios), ICT (Computer) Centre, cool and isolated learning environments (out of the city hussles) and providing the qualified and experience tutors committed to offer the best personalized academic service to the students.

What are your fees?

RCT fees rates are the most competitive among the tertiary schools in Tanzania; this is because the college is a non-profit making entity and a service oriented school. Before you devide to join RCT you are advised to do your own window shopping with other schools of our status you will see the difference. Compare and make the right decision (guaranteed).

 

What is your promise to the future students?

RCT is looking forward to providing a first    class training service to our students, improving our current facilities to meet the fast changing technological developments and to offer the highest standard of academic and professional output that may meet the challenges of the current employment market with a minimum struggle.
